About Us

Since the official launching of the Club in July 2001, we have been steadily growing each year.

During 2002, The Kiwanis Children Centre was established in Kuantan and we were honoured by HRH Sultanah Pahang, Sultanah Hajjah Kalsom becoming our Patron

2003, saw yet more public awareness program about Down syndrome being held in the community and saw our first intake of midly autistic children at the Centre.

2005 was off to a running start with two charity runs getting us into shape for the launching of the 1st Kiwanis Youth Job training Centre. This innovative would be the first step for our older students to learn a skill.

2006 and the following years absolutely flew by, with a busy itinery of training courses, Family Day, Sport Day, Charity Gala Dinner, member drives and Charity bazaar.

In the past sixteen years, the club has taken the children thus far. The children who joined us in 2002 are now teenagers and young adults. They are now diagnosed to be ‘persons with leaning disabilities’ (PLDs). PLDs do not mean their total being are disabled. There intellectual capacity may be limited but they do have other skills and aptitudes which can enable them to perform in certain employment field. Our main purpose is to train these PLDs with basic job skill to enable them to join the employment world, either on a full time or a part-time basis and it was decided that we need to expand the present premise into a OneStop Resource Centre.

2017 with the support of many caring corporations, individual well-wishers by donating cash, professional service, furnishing, equipment, furniture and fittings, work commenced on our major project to build a new double storey building to cater for children in Kuantan as well as for the east coast of the Peninsula, expected to be fully operational by 2019.

The Kiwanis Children Centre is situated at No. B-1659, Lorong Air Putih 32, Off Jalan Beserah, 25300 Kuantan, Pahang Darul Makmur.

The Centre has two fulltime teachers, an administrator and volunteers. Our student population is currently 15 with children ranging between the ages of 3 to 48 years old. To date, the Centre has served 160 and their families.

Each year takes us another step in the ongoing journey of ensuring that children and young adult at our centre achieve their highest potential in an environment where their welfare is our primary concern.

We thank you for your continuous support and kind generosity.

Welcome
